How to Download PAN Card Without PAN Number
PAN is
an important part of all Indian documentation. PAN is required as identity
proof for almost all government jobs. PAN is a Permanent Account Number which
consists of 10-digit alphanumeric characters and is assigned to all taxpayers
in India and issued by the Indian Income Tax Department under the Indian Income
Tax Act, 1961 under the supervision of the Central Board for Direct Taxes
(CBDT).

In this situation, you might have trouble obtaining and finishing the necessary paperwork, opening a bank account, applying for a loan and many other tasks.
Don’t worry, we are here to guide you. These are a few steps for obtaining a missing PAN card. You can apply a new PAN card with current PAN number and download the e-PAN card once you have your PAN number.
Step-1 Know Your PAN number
You can try
the following workaround techniques to obtain your PAN number since the UTI or
NSDL portals do not offer a facility for recovering lost PAN numbers or apply
for new PAN card without existing PAN number.
Method 1 - Through ITR documents or Income Tax Portal
- You can obtain the PAN number listed in the ITR documents if you filed an ITR for the previous financial year or the current financial year.
- You can download your documents and check your email for correspondence from the ITR department.
- If you have login credential for Income tax portal, In such case your user ID is your PAN number.
Method 2- Through the Income Tax helpline number
- To find out your PAN number, call the Income Tax department's helpline number. 18001801961 is the income tax helpline number.
- Request them to provide your PAN number as soon as the call is connected.
- You will be asked to provide your name, your father's name, the PIN code of the address you registered with PAN, etc.
- They will provide you with the PAN number after confirming the details you provided.
- To download e-PAN using your PAN number, write down your PAN number and proceed to the Step 2 of this article.
Method 3 – Through Digilocker
If Your PAN number has been uploaded or linked to the DigiLocker app or portal. You can download and view your PAN number using DigiLocker.
- Open the app that is installed on your phone or visit Digilocker website.
- Use your phone number or Aadhar number to log in.
- After that, select Issued Documents.
- From the list that appears on the screen, locate the PAN verification Record. The PAN number will be shown there.
Method 4 - Through Credit Report
Your
personal details and PAN number are included in the C 113 L report/Experian
report that you previously downloaded. These documents can be opened in PDF
format, and the PAN number can be obtained.
Method 5 – Through Demat account.
A PAN number
is also a required document for an Online Demat account. You may get the PAN
number and other KYC documents uploaded while opening the account if you
already have a Demat account
Method 6 – Through Your Internet banking
The ability
to view and update PAN numbers via Internet Banking is offered by many banks.
Your username and password can be used to access online banking. You can obtain
the PAN number mentioned there by selecting the KYC section from the menu.
Method 7 - By visiting a Bank branch
In the
online era, only new few people would choose this method but it is most effective
method. You can get your PAN number by visiting your local bank branch. They
will provide you the PAN number once you give them the information and
documentation they need for verification.
Step-2 Apply for E-PAN card
Once you
know the PAN number, Apply for E-PAN card with PAN number found in step 1 by
following any of the below methods:
Method 1 - Get e-PAN from the NSDL website.
- Use the browser on your phone or computer to access the NSDL website.
- Enter your date of birth in MM/YYYY, Aadhar number, and PAN number.
- Click the Submit button after entering the captcha code that is shown on the screen.
- Choose where you would like to get your OTP - on Email ID or Mobile number Or both.
- Click the Submit button after entering the OTP that was sent to your email address or mobile number.
- The EPAN is available for download in PDF format.
Method 2 - Get e-PAN from the UTI website
- Open the browser and go to the PAN card UTI website.
- On the homepage, select the Download e-PAN option.
- Click the Submit button after entering the captcha code that appears on the screen.
- Choose whether you would like an OTP sent to your mobile number, email or both.
- Enter in the OTP that was sent to your mobile or email address, then click the Submit button.
- You can now download the EPAN in PDF format.
Attention: Please
don’t try to apply for new PAN number as you already have a PAN number, you
just need to know your current PAN number after that you can apply for new PAN
card with current PAN number. No person should have more than one PAN number. If
you have two PAN, then you should apply for the surrender of additional PAN. Penalty
for having more than one PAN is Rs.10000 under the Income Tax Act. Having more
2 or more PAN cards with same PAN number is allowed, however having 2 or more PAN
cards with different PAN numbers is not allowed under Income Tax Act.
